backup server


I have a server that people telnet into and print from. This server is very critical for our operation here so I want to know if it is possible to set up a system where if the server goes down a backup one automatically takes its place. I can't just use a round robin dns. Is there anyway i can maybe have the backup server to duplicate all of the data on out main server and if it detects that the main server is down it can change its ip address to what the main servers address?

Look into rsync for copying the files, and here's an interesting article on "highly available linux":
