Authintication of users on a linux box via Active Directory
Howdy all,
Here is what I have setup:
I have Active Directory (Windows 2000 server) setup. I have both Windows and Linux boxes (trying out Red Hat 9 and Mandrake 9.1) on my network. My Linux boxes are joined to the domain via Samba and I can see them (and the shares) on my Windows boxes with "My Network Places" but I can not access them without a "linux" username and password.
This is what I want to do:
I want to be able to logon to my linux boxes using Active Directory as my authenticator. I do not want to have different user names and passwords for both my linux boxes and my Windows boxes. I also want to setup my linux shares (I guess my Samba shares) to authenticate with Windows users (again with out two separate usernames and passwords). How can this be accomplished?
Please give step by step instruction if possible, and I want to do it all via the command line interface (I don't have X running on my Red Hat box). And/or a theoretical idea of how to do it and I'll try to bang my way through it.
If anymore information is needed please let me know.
