Authentication WAP with RADIUS Server

Dear all,

I currently performing an testing using the above network configuration (Please click on the above link).
On how actually the RADIUS server can authenticate the user who connect to the WAP (wireless access point) in order to use the Internet services?

It is the WAP need to configured? Can I configure the WAP with hostapd? For the testing I need to authenticate with WEP first.

Please assist.

Hello,

I've only ever created WAPs using hostapd so I suggest you do that. The configuration file is a little big at first but should be of no hassle with a little time.

The hostapd demon must be able to communicate with the wireless card you are using as an AP so make sure to check the compatibility list on their site. Remember that not all wireless cards have the functionality to be APs and not all are supported by hostapd. Once you have that checked out you must simply add the IP of the Radius server on the hostapd.conf in the pertinent place along with the rest of your configuration.

Depending on what you wish to accomplish the configuration will of course get harder with the Radius authenticating.

Hope that helps.

Good luck.
