Yes chris, shows up it is listening. Now when i telnet to the server at port 110 it responds which is a breakthrough however, it still will not let the user and email address from outlook 2002 client log onto the incoming pop3 server (linux box) and receive its mail.

Anything else i can try?

My iptables has the following lines in it:

iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 80 -j ACCEPT
iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 25 -j ACCEPT
iptables -A INPUT -i eth0 -p tcp --dport 110 -j ACCEPT

My mail log says "Did not issue mail/expn/vrfy/etrn during connection to MTA" What does this mean?

What should be in my hosts file? I have got the following:

127.0.0.1 myservername.com mydomain.com

Also, forgot to mention that my linux box is not directly attached to the router. It is attached to a switch on the lan

thanks again
