Authenticating a suse 9.0 workstation to a Samba 9.1 server

I have installed a Samba server on Suse 9.1, and have 5 Suse 9.0 desktops that I am trying to authenticate to the Samba server.

I have a few problems....

1. I can authenticate to the server, but when I try to log in to get the shares (smb://192.168.0.202 - user student) it asks me to re-login every level multiple times. I should be prompted for user/password only once and the server should allow the shares properly, but it keeps asking for user/password. I hit escape a few times and it shows me the sub-directories, but when I click on one, it asks again for user/password.

2. Does anyone know of a login screen product that will authenticate to Samba and set up the shares on the drives automatically? I am running Ximian front end currently.

Also, I have 2 XP machines that can authenticate correctly and get the shares as they should. (logon directory and student directory)

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
