Attempting to browse through Hauwei E5573 router
On my Linux server I issue the command
dig +short myip.opendns.com @resolver1.opendns.com
which tells me my IP is
192.143.153.113 (I was always of the opinion that 192.xxx.xxx.xxx was intranet not internet)
however when I go into Firefox and attempt browsing to 192.143.153.113/status
which should return a web page I get switched to 192.168.8.1 which is the Huawei E5573 router I am trying to connect through.
If I issue the command
ping google.com
from said server I get
PING google.com (216.58.223.14) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from jnb01s07-in-f14.1e100.net (216.58.223.14): icmp_seq=1 ttl=50 time=68.4 ms
but still get cannot browser to connect.
Is it a router configuration issue?
Yes, home routers typically can not loop back http. If you try to access a web page from your server from within the LAN using your router's WAN IP address you only get the router's configuration setup. This is typically built in to the router's firmware and can not be changed.
