When I connect to http://myserver it always works, the problem is when others outside my wireless network do it says "could not connect to host". 443 didnt change that.

Have you forwarded TCP and UDP protocols?

What sort of router is it?

I do realise that it's purely an external problem

No I have not, its Netgear. What ports are TCP and UDP?

TCP and UDP are protocols. Usually you can forward port 80 TCP protocol and port 80 UDP protocol separately.

What model netgear - I'll see if I can find a manual

When you forwarded ssh, ftp, etc., did you select the service by using the dropdown list? I'm assuming that you created a new service to add "apache".

I'd try deleting the forwarding for "Apache", and adding a new forward using the dropdown, and select http.
