apache server from behind router

I have set up my linux box to run as an apache server, but it only works from my home network. any attempt to access from another computer directs to the configuration page of my router.

is there any way i can get it to work properly?

i have already tried using port mapping to direct any access of port 80 to this computer, but it didnt do anything. i may have done it wrong
i have a US Robotics 9003 and a US Robotics 8054 (sometimes USR018054).

thanks.

Hi, drize,

I have more or less the same problem as you, and posted a thread
"could not get installed apache to work".

Hoping some info contained therein may also help you.

I am still wrestling with my surecom DSL Gateway router trying to make it
to do its work.

good luck!

How about your modem? Does it have a firewall and if so can you have it forward ports or dmz?

I assume you are using the US Robotics 8054 as a switch and wireless access point ?

To access your server within your LAN you need to look at the virtual server settings, also be aware that your server should be given a reserved IP address because if you have DHCP enabled and you reboot it may not be assigned the same address

To access from the WWW I would assume the same applies for your US Robotics 9003

Hope this helps

Pete

the 9003 connects to my adsl line, and the 8054 gives wan and switches it.

i have the following settings in my 8045 (among others):
Virtual server:
Virtual Server HTTP TCP 80/80 192.168.123.100

Firewall Rule:
Allow 300 Virtual Server HTTP WAN,* LAN,192.168.123.100 TCP,80

There is also a DMZ menu in this - what should i set here? options are enable/disable (disble current) and dmz host ip (0.0.0.0 currently)

These are rules for the 9003:
Prece- dence Interface Direction Src IP Addr/Netmask Dest IP Addr/Netmask Src Port Dest Port Protocol Tcp Flags FW Action FW Action ID
1000 Any Any 0.0.0.0/32 0.0.0.0/32 =0 =80 TCP None Allow 6

NAT Port Range Mapping:
Local Address Local Port Public Address Public Port Protocol
From To From To
192.168.123.100 80 80 81.79.119.121 80 80 TCP
