Apache: no mod_rewrite module?

Hi,

I installed apache 1.3.33 on Mandrake 10.3. These are the configure options on mod_ssl

./configure --with-apache=/installs/Selfdef/apache_1.3.33 --with-ssl=/installs/Selfdef/openssl-0.9.7g/ --prefix=/usr/local/web/apache1333 --enable-module=so --enable-module=ssl

However, when I look at the httpd.conf I don't see

LoadModule mod_rewrite libexec/mod_rewrite.so

libexec/mod_rewrite.so doesn't exist

I went to the source directory of apache and edited the modules/Configuration file and
uncommented
AddModule modules/standard/mod_rewrite.o

Then recompiled. It isn't working.

I added this to httpd.conf

<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine on
RewriteRule / http://www.othersite.com
</IfModule>

Any ideas?

mod_rewrite is disabled by default in Apache 1.3.x. If you want it, then you need to tell it so when you configure it, ie "--enable-module=rewrite --enable-shared=rewrite". See "./configure --help" for a complete list of which ones are included by default. You can also use "all" vs a single module name to enable all of them, if you want. Also read the INSTALL & README.configure files.
