Apache is resolving names to ip?
I'm running apache on redhat 8.0. I was working on DNS to resolve my domain name to the apprpriate ip address. Funny thing is that I could type in the browser bar from a remote location (not inside the same network but on the lan side, friends house anywhere else)
and it would take me to the apache test page on my server, i could even type my hostname in the browser bar and view the test page. What i can't figure out is why? I was doing some troubleshooting and decided to stop the named daemon service and disable it. i also disabled port 53 on my router, so that no dns querries will be answered. so the only thing i can think of is that either apache is resolving it or my network card settings under the hosts tab is resolving it.
In a nut shell typing or in you're browserbar takes you to the test page but if you type the page is not found. How do i resolve this issue and be able to run more than one website and not have them all pointing to the test page. Any body have any ideas.?

Just at the moment, it looks like the registrar for your domain is not reachable! I would hope that's very temporary. It certainly could be the source of your difficulties.

actually i purchased my domain name from
i set it up to point to my name server and the ip address for it. so basically when you type or you go to the default test page on my server. I'm just wondering what I'm doing wrong since i can't type Or maybe i didn't understand you're answer.
