Any name resolves to. A? CNAME? DNS Q

HEy!

I have a domain, for argument sake, mydomain.tld.

I want to set it so that anything.mydomain.tld resolves to the same address.

Can I put a wild card, or something? How would I go about doing this?

Thanks,

David

Wildcards won't work (i don't think they do). So you have to resort to CNAME records pointing to an A record.

But I want to say any subdomain point to IP address. How would this be accomplished with CNAME?

* IN A 10.0.0.1

That is what I put in the master file for my domain and it works perfectly (I know it is a private address.)

So anyone who wants to use wildcards to point any subdomain to an IP just use the wildcard *
