any ideas? linksys wusb54g connects with live cd but, not with installed mandriva

So, with this live cd in the "network center" it shows, and will connect to, wireless access points. However, when using the installed version of mandriva 2008 the "network center" shows no networks. Though when "network monitoring" there is data being recived"

Is there some wireless sensitivity updates?
What could be the problem?

The data I am recieving right now says average about 3kb/s
sounds slow

thanks in advance
