Advice for a SAT>IP Server
I am based in the UK and have two internal TV Tuner cards (a dual DVB-T and a single DVB-S2).
I would prefer to go for satellite only and rather than buy a Quad DVB-S2 tuner card, I was thinking about a SAT>IP Server. There seem to be quite a few advantages: * No driver issues (especially after kernel updates) * You can connect to the tuners directly, rather than via a server * They are cheaper * A PC, with PVR Software, can be place anywhere (not just close to the satellite input). Has anyone used one and, if so, how was it? Can anyone recommend any particular device? |
This has been sitting for a while. Guess I'll ask.
Can you explain a bit more of what you want to do exactly? Not sure I get what you want to do. |
I currently have a headless server, running Openmediavault.
I currently use TVHeadend to schedule and make recordings from the FTA channels available via the tuner cards that I currently have. I did consider a TBS Quad DVB-S2 tuner card as a replacement/upgrade but have been advised that TBS cards are pretty tricky with Linux as kernel updates mean that the drivers have to constantly be recompiled. SAT>IP servers seem to get round this problem buy existing as a separate product and feeding the satellite signals directly into the network, where they can still be picked up by my server. I am currently looking at this one: http://www.conrad-electronic.co.uk/c...ar-DIGIBIT-R-1 But reviews seem a bit thin on the ground. |
