advantages and disadvantages of nat prerouting / postrouting?
 
is it possible to use prerouting and postrouting at the same time?

what would be the advantages and disadvantages?

Um ... PREROUTING and POSTROUTING are used for different things. For example SNAT and MASQUERADE are done from POSTROUTING while DNAT is done from PREROUTING. You might want to take a look at the NAT-HOWTO.
