ADSL2+ modem for websites
Hi,
Before ADSL2+, I had a ADSL modem (with no built-in router), which simply had two connections, one for the phone line, and one for ethernet. I then could connect the modem's ethernet port to the NIC on a Linux box and setup a connection over PPPoE. I do this so I can run all my dynamic IP clients and have better control over connection and disconnection of the Internet, for my internal servers (www, imap).
However, since ADSL2+ has come out, I've had trouble finding a ADSL2+ modem (i.e. with no built-in router). So I could do exactly the same as above.
Just to say it another way, I want my Linux box to make the PPPoE connection, not some ADSL2+ modem/router device. So I need a ADSL2+ modem, that doesn't have a router, so I can get my Linux box to connect/disconnect to/from the Internet.
Can anybody tell me a good ADSL2+ modem. And how PPPoE is setup in Linux (Ubuntu) for ADSL2+ (I assume it is the same as ADSL).
Thank you.
