ADSL, Ubuntu and problems

OK, fed up with a few technical limitations of windows, I have decided to switch in part to Linux.
I am finding the change very hard.
I chose Ubuntu because of its simplicity, however I am having problems.

Because I am still unfamiliar with Linux and Ubuntu I can not explain my problem as well as I would like.

I wish to use my "Zoom PCI ADSL WAN Adapter" (64k) to connect to the Internet. I have a ISP and everything runs fine in windows.

I have tried to follow the tutorials I have found to set everything up, but to no avail.
Is the "Zoom PCI ADSL WAN Adapter" in someway not supported? How can I fix this?

Many thanks for any replys!

*edit* it seams the same question was asked back in 2004, with no answer. LINK
Still need advice.

Is this Zoom PCI ADSL WAN Adapter an internal card or an external box?

It is on an internal PCI card slot.

Thankyou very much for showing an interest! It is very much appreciated!

can you open a shell and type,

lspci

and post the results here. That will help in identifying which chipset it has as there may be other cards that use the same chipset.

A terminal. Should be on the applications menu (where start is on Windows) and look in system tools I think (I don't have a machine with Ubuntu running at the moment). Shell, terminal & command line are the same thing. You may also have to change to root
Type it like this this:
Code:
sudo -s lspci
It will ask for your password, and then print a screen full of info. Cut and paste it into your reply. Use the [code] tags - the # symbol on the Reply to Thread menu.

Edit:
A better way would be:
Code:
su -s
Then your password. Then:
Code:
lspci

Thanks for your help, I got the PCI report, but now I have run into further problems with Linux not liking my NTFS file system. (I'm on dual install).
There are solutions for this, but reading the tutorials I see that they are immensely complex.
Im afraid Im going to stick with windows for now. I gave linux a good shot, but it is takeing far too much of my time to get it into working order.
Once again, thankyou.

You didn't send us the lspci report, so we could offer more advice. If this is too hard maybe you shouldn't go near Linux!
