adsl-setup ppp0

Hi Guys,
I'm having problem configuring my adsl on a redhat linux 9.0 machine. I have two NIC, and i want to connect to internet and serve as a gateway.
I runned the /sbin/adsl-setup and inputted the necessary parameters such as,
1.login name
2. password.
3. dns name 1 and 2.

I'm using the eth1 on my ppp0. I did not configure eth1 on my redhat-config-network and let adsl-setup be the one to setup.

i also run the /sbin/ifup ppp0 after the configuration. No error returned but it can't ping the dns servers nor the yahoo.com.

Maybe someone out there who can help me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks,
tungaw2001

Did you run adsl-setup as root?

If everything was set up correctly, you should be able to connect using adsl-start.

Look at the output of ifconfig. Is there anything for ppp0?

Try:
ifdown ppp0 (If you haven't rebooted or changed anything)
adsl-start

Now go back and look the output of ifconfig and look for ppp0

I did run the adsl-setup, and run the ifup ppp0 afterwards. when i tried ifconfig, the ppp0 shows it's up and running but not the adsl. Do i still need to run the adsl-start after i run the ifup ppp0?. I know all my parameters in adsl-setup is correct.

Thanks,
tungaw

Try running adsl-start instead of ifup ppp0

I run the adsl-start already and checked the config thru ifconfig, ppp0 seems working but when i tried to check if i can ping the nameserver, destination is unreachable. I run the adsl-setup again and run the adsl-start, the ppp0 is up and running but still cannot reach the destination.

what seems to be the problem? Do i still need to stop iptables, firewall starter or the eth0?.

thanks,
