ADSL is working, but NO answer from pppoeconf
 

Hi,

I am using the pppeconf utility on Knoppix.

After I start the tool, it looks for a PPPOE service. Hower it says that no repsonse from the network is received.


If I look in tcpdump (also present in KNOPPIX ;-) I indeed see the PPPOE PADI messages coming out , but nothing is received from the network.

This is very strange, because if I go back to windows, same PC, same NIC, same cable, same DSL-line, I am able to connect via PPPOE with no problem.

Is it because the operator thinks I have allready a service name, it does not give me a name when I ask for it ?
