Adding samba users

I want the individual users to be able to add/modify samba passwords for their respective home directories. is there anyway to do this?

smbpasswd -a works only with root

Hi aroop,

You need to set the SUID-Bit for the file you want to be executed by other users.

try:
man sudo
man sudoers

This would give you enough information to solve your Problem.

smbpasswd works, but the error message isnt explanatory enough.

It was asking for a more complex password, when I tried using a complex password, it worked fine.

One can use the command smbpasswd to make change one's own samba password.
