I have been looking at Samba for a while now and I am trying to get it to connect to a Windows NT Domain. I have set the smb.conf file to minimum requirements (i.e. encrypted passwords, domain, workgroup etc.) and have just tried smbpasswd -j DOMAIN_NAME -r PDCSERVER (obviously replacing DOMAIN_NAME and PDCSERVER with real names).
I get the error NT_STATUS_NO_TRUST_SAM_ACCOUNT. Does anyone have any ideas on how to correct this?
It is a RedHat 8 installation if that makes any difference.

You need to create the account for the Samba machine on the NT PDC first. Then you run the command from the Samba machine.

Basically, NT is saying that it doesn't know any computer with that name.
