adding ROUTE target to iptables

background:
slackware 13, kernel 2.6.29.6, first serious attempt at kernel patching
require the apparently deprecated ipt_ROUTE patch from netfilter's obsolete patch-o-matic suite

Situation:
patch-o-matic invariably exits out to the default conclusion message regardless of what switches are passed to it.

Manually patching does not seem to work, manually inserting the patch into the source tree (was getting desperate)also does not work

following the above, make menuconfig does not show up the ROUTE target option in the netfilter subsection anywhere.

I'm at a loss at what to do next, as I need the --oif function in the ROUTE code to duplicate traffic out of a machine's third interface card

--edit

Took me too long to realise the code for patch o matic was obsoleted, and now of course the previous versions do not work with an of the additional requirements for my system.

Anyone know how to get the ROUTE function, please let me know.

There is zero need for ipt_ROUTE. Use iproute2.
