adding new IP's to Network card
 
To add new IP's to the network adapter on Linux box, I can use the Network configuration wedget in GNome. How to do the same with purely command line? I just want to type command lines to add IP's and to activate/deactivate the added IP's, instead of doing all these in GUI.

it's ifup command.
