re; adding a mac to linux & win network

with your first problem i have no idea

but with your second : about adding a Mac that isn't a problem, you need to know what version of Mac Os you are running reasons below :

Mac OS 9 and below, you will need to have OR install 'netatalk' for the Mac to communicate with the linux box

OR

Mac OS 10 or above this will see the Samba shares as a normal windows would

In OS 10, you can go to the finder and press COMMAND (the swirly Apple key thingy) + k and it will bring up a "connect" dialog. Just put in smb://sharename and hit enter. It will ask for your username and password if necessary (the user/pass for the Samba share, not your local user/pass).

Macs on a network are like Windows but three times easier. Your Mac (running OS X) will immediately see all workgroups and computers and let you mount shares as network drives just by clicking on them. In the three years my laptop ran Windows ME, I never got it to see even the workgroup it belonged to. The XP machine (belonging to my parents) sees the network when it feels like it.

Macs are just easy.
