Add 2 Network

Anyone have information on what is required & how to network an Intel SuSE 7.3 box with an iSeries AS/400?

If you have 411 on any linux machine talking to any series AS/400 I would love to have it.

As of this week, struggled to get NIC, J2SDK, J2RE & TOMCAT built

Looking for a less painful task now.

Thanks..

AS/400 + Linux = Bliss

Do you have a TCP/IP stack on your AS/400? Also, what sort of network interface do you have on your AS/400?

I know it can be done because I did a job once for a company proxying/firewalling some remote workstations to work with an AS/400.

It's just like networking any computer as long as you have the software/hardware on your AS/400.

AS/400 is an iSeries v5R1M0 with a normal ethernet card. TCP/IP is configured.

It is available to the internet & available to the LAN of various Windows machines.

Just need the Linux Info. & a recomendation on any AS/400 software that may help the config.

Thanks.

networking linux

This can be an easy task, in most cases.

login as root. type ifconfig -a and make sure you get an ethernet interface coming up. (This will probably be eth0).

To configure your network interface in linux, issue the command:
ifconfig eth0 <IP> netmask <netmask>

done.

To enable this on bootup.. in slackware you can use netconfig. In most linux distributions, you can do this in the /etc/rc.d or /etc/init.d. Depends what Distribution you're using.. duh, SuSE, SuSE uses a sys V style init, so it'll be in your /etc/init.d somewhere. Look for S##network or something similar.

Gluck.
