Acer ThickPad - RedHat 6.2 - Wired network is not connecting

Hi

I have installed RedHat Linux 6.2 (satiago) 64 bit on a Acer ThickPad system as a dual boot. Another OS is windows 7.

When I login after installing, I have enabled connect automatcially in the network connections - wired connection - eth0

It is still not connecting to the network.

Please let me know how to go about it.

usually the commands are
ifconfig eth0
dhcpcd eth0
to bring up the network.
