You might want to let everyone know which distribution you are using, if your Acer works OK with Windows (to diagnose whether it might be a hardware problem), and any other relevant information. For example, I do not know what a bt home hub is, and I suspect that a lot of others will not either. We do not all use the same jargon or have the same experience, so spelling out names, putting in model numbers, and adding what you have tried already to diagnose the problem will help a lot.
