Accessing Windows Machines Problem Help!!

Hi

I have installed Linux 9.0

I need to Linux- Windows Networking for sharing files for this I am using Samba

I face many problems

I created a share in my linux system say my Linus system IP is 192.168.1.10

say for example /home/test

This is the folder i kept for samba share and also created a windows users pointing to the adm user in the Linux system so this is fine.

Now I go to my windows system and type //192.168.1.10

It is asking for authentication I give the details and able to log in and access files

Now the problem is when I go to another Linux system and browse the share ie
smb://192.168.1.10
It is asking for authentication three times and I am able to login
After give three times user name passwor only I am able to login
Why is this so? what I have to do?

The next Problem is

I need to access my Windows files form my Linux system

That I need to access Windpws 2000 files say my windows IP is 192.168.1.15

I have created the Winows 2000 Share and gave rights for everyone

So when I start accessing form my Linux system like smb://192.168.1.15

It is asking for username password angain it is asking for three times

and able to login in and I also able to see the shared file but i could not access the share

but the for that file I gave full permission

Still I am not able to access what could be the problem

Kindly guide me I need to access my windows 2000 files

regrads

I'm having a similar issue. I can access my Samba shares from Windows (but I don't have to log in 3 times), but I can't access my shared Windows files using Linux. I type in smb://XPbox and can see the folders, but can't access any of the files.

If you need a quick fix, you can use LinNeighborhood. It will let you access your Windows files from Linux.

I'd still like to know why I can't access it from Konqueror.

If I figure anything out, I'll let you know.
