Accessing Web Site
 

I am in charge of my old High School's website. I'm fairly new to Linux and am using Mandriva 2005 LE. In Windows I would just use Frontpage and open the website by adding an "s" to the address. I would just open a file and type https://www.magoffin.k12.ky.us/mchs/default.htm and it would let me make any changes and then save it directly to the server without having to use any other FTP programs. I'm using NVU as my web editor and I can't seem to get it to save directly to the site, and I seem to be having trouble using KBear to set up an FTP connection to the server so I can just save it to my desktop and then copy it over to the server. Any ideas on something I may be doing wrong with NVU or another way I can get these files onto an https web server?

I use KBear to maintain my server. I use a sftp connection and don't require an ftp server. Port 22 needs to be open, so if you have a firewall make sure it's allowing connections via this port. I maintain and create all my pages on my main system and then just move them over the sftp link. Simple stuff I just edit manually using a text editor whilst in KBear but I could use any html editor as well.

Install Quanta Plus. Use its "New Project" menus and add your school's website as a new project. It allows you to add in the server settings, etc., for grabbing and uploading the necessary pages. I haven't personally used it, but given the server settings and the "Upload Project" button it's probably what you're looking for.

If that doesn't work, try playing around with either Screem or Bluefish.
