Accessing MY virtual hosts from MY Lan.

Hi,

This has been doing my head for quite a while, so I need some help from ya masters...

My problem starts with my Netgear DG834 which can only be configured via port 80 (shame that such a good router has such a rigid drawback).

Anyway, my Apache server is running virtual hosts, which are working great if you access them from outside my LAN, however, when I try to access them from within the LAN, I get the router login dialog.

I'm sure that someone out there had the same problem.

I know I can set my own DNS, but I was thinking maybe there are better ways to go about this.

Thanks in advance.

Just override your DNS servers on each lan machine. In the hosts file on every lan PC add:
ip.of.web.server www.mydomain.org www.mydomain.com www.mydomain3.net

Ok, found an answer I'm happy with:

I've added to /etc/hosts:

127.0.0.1 mydomain.org www.mydomain.org
