Accessing Linux server from Windows client - Can't get it to work
Hi,
I am a Windows user who is using Linux for the first time. I am running a server with RedHat gnome. I have a client with Win 98. Basically there is one user already setup who can access the server fine. I wanted to setup a new user. So I created one locally on the Win 98 client, then setup the account on the server using linuxconf. I created them with the same username and password and I added the new user into the same group that the existing user was a member of to give the new user the same access as the existing user. Now when I try to access the server from the Win 98 machine with the new account it asks me for a password. I try using the users password but it won't work. Can someone please help me. I have no idea what I am doing. Have I set this up completely wrong. Thanks Simon |
Did you add a samba password via smbpasswd?

No, what is a samba password and why is it needed? I created a password in linuxconf, is that sufficient or do I need to also add a samba password?
Thanks for your help... |
