Accessing FTP through Windows Proxy

Using a Linux Client machine and trying to login to an external FTP server through a Windows proxy server.

I am using GFTP and I specified the proxy settings in GFTP but it does not seem to work.

Can anybody help?

Can you get to that system with a web browser or ping it?

I am able to connect to the internet through the same Proxy server through Firefox (by setting the Proxy settings in Firefox options). Only remote FTP is not working. I am sure that it is a matter of certain settings, but it hasn't worked so far.

What version of gftp are you using? I saw an alert about a bug with certain versions.
