Accessing from Windoze: How to activate guest account?

Hi there,

I got Slackware 9 running on my PC in a LAN and want to access my shares from a Windoze (98) PC. watching my shares from my own pc via smb:/ works fine, but the Windoze reports that it's connected to \\my-pc\IPC$ and wants a password typed in...
I think the problem is a missing guest account...

Does anybody know this problem and ideally a solution to it?

Regards,

Seppel

in the /etc/samba/smb.conf file, there is a line security = user. If you change this into security = share, you will be able to connect to the share, if the shared folder is accesable. (see properties of the folder, every user should be able to access it.)

Thanks alot! I just wondered why it didn't start to work....
I just have to find a solution how to access my fat32 partition via LAN when running Linux.... but I'll find a solution.

Thanks again!
