Accessing files- from both XP and Linux

I'm very green in this field, so I'll just say what I know of so far and what I'm aiming to do:

I have one Windows XP box and one Slack8.1 box, both hooked up to each other VIA an external router/switch. Windows sees my computer when addressed as a webpage(port 80 or whatever's the default), and my XP box sees the file I have as my index.html on my Linux box, so I know that it sees the computer.

I have Samba installed as it was when I installed it with my fresh install of Slack8.1. How can I browse my XP box from my Linux box, and how can I browse my Linux box from my XP box?

I'm sorry if this issue has been addressed thousands of times before.

To browse your XP computer from your Linux computer, you'll want to use smbmount. The first place for information is its man page (man smbmount).

To browse your Linux computer from Windows, you'll need to configure Samba by mainly editing it's smbd.conf file and setting up the shares you want. You can do this by hand or the easy way using SWAT (Samba Web Adminstration Tool) - you may need to install an additional package for this. Again look at it's man page (man swat).
