access redhat linux server behind firewall from outside word


Hi Friend,

in our intranet ,i have one red hat enterprise linux 5 server behind firewall(cisco ASA5505) , now my problem is " how to access my red hat linux server from outside world or internet ?"

please any body have an idea regarding this then help me.....

well how do you want to access it? normally you'd add a nat on your asa to forward whatever protocol you want on to the internal server. if you only havfe one public IP you'd probably need to do some port multiplexing to use a different port to the norm if you want to do this for multiple servers.

note that this has nothing at all to do with linux, purely the asa.

Hi acid_kewpie,

I want to access from outside world like terminal server through access in linux server.

i know about nating address and translating port but in linux which port can i translated so i can access through remote desktop connection.

i wait your positive reply...

you need port forwarding, for remote desktop vnc is the solution, 5901 is the port u can change it, if you need ssh or telnet just run the service and forward the ports in your router.

yes but this is an ASA, a REAL firewall, not a toy, so there's no "port forwarding" on it, you need to break it down and do it properly.
