Smile Access Linux Browser from Windows

Hi Friends,

I successfully installed R12 on Linux. It is working fine on server. I want to access E-business Login page from different windows computers.
All M/C are in same network

http://Hostname.oracle.com:8000

This m/c is showing in router.

I added these lines in host file

127.0.0.1 hostname.oracle.com
127.0.0.1 hostname
127.0.0.1 hostname.oracle.com:8000
127.0.0.1 localhost
192.168.0.145 hostname.oracle.com
192.168.0.145 hostname.oracle.com:8000

192.168.0.145 is my ip address in router

Still I am not able to access this 12i Server from other windowsbox

I am typing in the browser : http://hostname.oracle.com:8000/OA_HTML/AppsLogin

I can ping 192.168.0.145. But I can't ping hostname.oracle.com

do you have a DNS server on your LAN? if not you need to add these hostnames and IP's to every machines hosts file that you intend to access the server from

You need to have DNS server to resolve the name to an IP address, or have the name and IP adddress entered in the hosts file on the system you are using to access the remote site. Secondly make sure that you don't have an iptables rule or other firewall rule blocking the port (in this case I think 8000) from external access.
