about proxy

hi guys,

I did a source routing with iproute2 in kernel2.4.*.It works for one proxy ip
in local network. This source routing works on an adsl link. Now here is the
my question?

When the adsl line down, the cron automatically changes the route to leased line .After this time only the proxy can reach internet but the hosts
behind them can not! After rebooting proxy the hosts can reach Internet.

I think this is about proxy. However i did not understand why is it like that?

Do anyone uses source routing for any proxy in local?

Use a load balancer instead of messing with routing.
