About NAGIOS
Hi all
I just installed the nagios packages ( www.nagios.org ) and I followed and did all the steps that here : http://nagios.sourceforge.net/docs/1_0/installing.html but in the last step ( Configuring Nagios ) I can not understand any thing . he told me modify and use the sample files .. Really I thing it is very very difficult , in my case I want only monitor 3 ms windows 2000 server ( cpu & Memory utilization and Hard disk – used and free spaces ) am I need to download any extra files ?? ,, and where can I Enter my servers Information Like IP address and Host names ?? |
The documentation is very detailed.
look where the cfg files are stored. you would need to edit host.cfg, services.cfg, nagios.cfg. |
Thanks
I read this document that in this page :
http://nagios.sourceforge.net/docs/1_0/configmain.html but I can not understand almost of it ,, For example here is part of the file : ========================================= Format: log_file=<file_name> Example: log_file=/usr/local/nagios/var/nagios.log This variable specifies where Nagios should create its main log file. This should be the first variable that you define in your configuration file, as Nagios will try to write errors that it finds in the rest of your configuration data to this file. If you have log rotation enabled, this file will automatically be rotated every hour, day, week, or month. ========================================== I went to this directory /usr/local/nagios/var/ But I did not find file named nagios.log is it means I have to create it or what ??? Please if there is any body guide me to modify existing samples files , i do not want complex modification i want only monitor CPU, Memory , HD and Drawing the Networks Map ..... |
Until you start nagios there will be no log created.
