I have a Samba server setup as a PDC. Its the only machine on all the time so I want it to win all network neighborhood browser elections and to also be the Wins Server.

I added these to my global section:

os level = 64
domain master = yes
preferred master = yes
local master = yes
wins support = yes

I think this is right and have no problems. I also consulted the www.samba.org sites docs. I just wanted to know is this an ok practice for a samba server setup as a PDC? Your opinions, tips, and advice are always welcome.

Many admins are using samba as a PDC, instead of Windows servers. It does a great job!

If you want more info than you can ever handle about samba and it's abilities, sign up on their general mailing list at samba.org. About 100 emails a day, but some really great info. Also easy to hop off the list when you get overwhelmed.
