A Little Samba Help

Hi all,

I have a simple TCP/IP network at home with the linux box acting as a MASQ router for the rest of the network using private IP's. I am using samba for file sharing and the rest of the computers are running Windows. What should the security setting be in security = "..........." in the smb.conf file? I've gotten it to work to where I can see a folder I set up as a guest but what would it take to make a folder to where I could only view it with a password?

Thanks in advance,
Jason

security=user

...

don't forget to add the users to the /etc/smbpasswd (I'm lazy so I do it through SWAT). You need users for your linux system and then for your /etc/smbpasswd.

Thanks alot. That leads me to another question. I don't seem to have swat installed for some strange reason. It's not in the xinitd.d folder. How can I get it?

Thanks again.

there should be a package on the CD you installed Linux from. What distro are you using?
