A little lost with SNMP and OID
We got two UPS at different locations, one is responding to snmpget but the other does not. I have never worked with SNMP earlier, just knew it was to control network devices, but I think the problem might be the OID.
I'm copying the same command that is working, just changing the ip, but no status is returned. What else could I do?

Are these two units the same make and model? If not, using the same OID is not likely to work.
Are you using the right community name and SNMP version? Does snmpwalk work?
Can you ping the unit? Have you verified that the IP settings are correct (IP address, netmask, gateway)?

Don't know about the units, but I guess they are not the same.
Yes, both the community and version are ok. Tomorrow at work I'll try the snmpwalk.
Network settings are ok as well. Can ping or access through telnet.
I tried to actually understand the .mib file, trying to understand from where did the working OID come from, but I couldn't find any clue. For instance, the OID has a 33, so if I didn't understood wrong, somewhere within the .mib file should be a line saying "whatever, 33", shouldn't it? Because there wasn't any :S

Just check the firmware of those two devices, if not matching then upgrade it with the latest one. We also faced same problem with other type of network devices, after upgrading the firmware. It worked fine. Just give a try.

Ok, I understand now the whole thing of Mib and OID.
It seems we got network problems now, or maybe a faulty UPS because SNMP port is enabled and configured, but nmap shows it as closed.
