A DNS Howto question...
 

I have installed BIND 9 and the default configuration is a caching only server. I have a couple of questions about it though...

1. If I don't have any forwarders listed, will it use the "." zone listed in named.conf to contact root servers for resolution?
   
2. If I do have forwarders listed, will it try it's own cache before for forwarding?
   
3. When clients get their DHCP configuration from the same server, can they be automatically registered in DNS like under Windows?

3. You need "Dynamic DNS updates". Take a look at the manpages for dhcpd and dhcpd.conf
