56k dial-in cant be done unless you have...

I was reading this on a site recently.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you expect that people will be able to dial-in to you at 56k, it can't be done unless you have all the following:

1. You have a digital connection to the telephone company such as a trunkside-T1 or ISDN line
2. You use special digital modems (see Digital Modems)
3. You have a "... concentrator", or the like to interface your digital-modems to the digital lines of the telephone compan

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have a dsl 512 download 128 upload does this mean I cant set up a dialin server with 56k modem connections?.

This is not true in the strict sense. If you are considering constructing an ISP type internet server then yes it's true. I you just want a dial in server to serve html stuff on a one-on-one basis then it can be done with mgetty which is covered by this article wrt Debian
If you want to setup a website with ADSl then there are a number of articles on the net that cover it and one example.here
