56K AC-Link Voice Modem problems

SoftK56V_B2.1_V2.14.07
56K AC-Link Voice Modem

This is the info that I gathered from my modem

I tried installing the latest version of the SmartLink driver, and the modem seems to work ok

However, when I try to use it (with wvdial and kppp) I receive a:

NO DIALTONE

I alreay tried tweaking the wvdial.conf file without results

Then, I read that the correct modem driver for my chipset is the Conextant one

I did installed, and it seems to work ok as well (with wvdial I can even hear the program dialing my ISP through the speakers)

The problem is that, after I connect to the internet (using any of the programs mentioned above), I can't navigate the internet

If I try browsing a site with lynx, all I receive is a 'site inaccessible' message after a couple of minutes.

If I ping www.google.com, I received a 100% paket lost

Any ideas?

Regards

Mandrake Linux 9.1

I don't intend to be rude but do you think it has to do something with the distribution?

I've only read about one guy on the whole LQ site that has this modem working

Regards
