I just got two old Compaqs Prolinea 4/33S and I thought I could try to put them to some use. Until a few weeks ago they were happily running windows 3.1 and a terminal emulator connecting them to a unix database via a network adaptor connected to the serial port. I don't really know much about these things but they are very small adaptors that plug in the serial port on the pc and have a connector for a network cable at the other end.

I have a pentium 400 Mhz pc which I want to use as a server. I am interested to know if anyone knows a way to have ethernet base 10 NIC on the 486 Compaqs. The motherboard has only old style connectors for expansion cards.

This is a one off posting and I am not even sure this is the right place to post. So forgive me for any possible inconvenience.

Yes, this is not the right place
But anyway, find out if those "old style connector for expansion cards" are ISA. if so, you can pu and old NIC there and start networking.
