3com travel router

I'm running Debian 5.0 on a Pentium 4. I'd like to be able to keep it where it is, and yet still access my home wireless network without having to buy new equipment or run a laptop and bridge with that. So, I have a 3com OfficeConnect travel router.

I can access the router in config mode, and it works when I boot into XP, but not in Linux.

trying to ping google gives an unknown host, while trying to get anywhere with IceWeasel gets me "Failed to Connect"

eth2 lists:
RX packets:138 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:73 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0

There's not much info about this router out there, that I could find.

thanks,
ivan

What IP settings did you use? It sounds like maybe you set a specific IP address rather than letting it broadcast a DHCP request to the new router.

I don't think that's it, but I will double check.

I forgot to mention that XP sees an internet gateway (presumably the router) when I'm using it with the travel router.

Thanks for the lead.

I picked up in your original post that XP worked. Knowing that DHCP provides information like default gateway and DNS servers, I suspected that Linux was not getting the same information, and so maybe DHCP was not enabled.

Let us know if you get it resolved. Lots of people here who like a good mystery.
