3Com fiber n/w card - only start to recieves data when tcpdump runs
 

Hi,
Kind of a strange problem.
I have a 3Com fibre n/w card that recieves data from another server running the same card.
After boot up, this device doesn't seem to be recieving data until I run tcpdump on it. And if I stop tcpdump, the 3Com fibre card will stop recieving data too!

What could be configured wrongly?

I have no answer to u question, but when you run tcpdump, your card enter in promiscuous mode (take a look at /var/log/message)
