2wire USB adapter problem

Hi, I recentally installed Black Orion and I wouldn't consider myself to be knowledgable about linux. I was able to figure out how to set everything else up but I was unable to configure my internet. How might I be able to do so with a 2wire modem? I also don't have any windows partitions on my computer. I tried to manually configure my modem by entering the ip address of into firefox but I always get a connection refusal error. "this connection was refused when attempting to contact ____ "
