2 NIC's

I have had my RH7 box connected to the net for some time now, with no real issues, most get answered through books on right here

My internet connection is though an ADSL router, I do have a static IP address also.

Anyway, currently both my Linux box and also one of my Windows machines are connected to the router, meaning that both have net access and since they are on the same subnet, ie 192.168.254.* I share files between them etc.

I've currently named the Windows Workgroup to the same as the domain name setting on my linux box.

As I said there has been little in the way of problems, but I am now looking to stretch things a little further.

I currently have http running on the Linux machine and can accett it remotley with Telnet etc, as I have a domain name that points to the static IP address.

What I need ask, is that should I really change the domain/workgroup name to that of the domains name, that has been set to point to the static IP address?

I like the idea of keeping my private domain/workgroup name different from the one allocated to the static IP address.

So would a better option be to install a 2nd NIC into the Linux box, keep one set to the private IP/Domains/Workgroup settings and the other the Internet side, ie the public domains name?

Thanks in advance... I sure you hope understand what I've just typed

Windows domain is different from 'real' domain (something.net). If the router is properly configured, it doesn't allow anyone from outside to access your 'Windows domain'. So it doesn't matter if you change it or not.
