2 Computers LAN Crossover Samba

I have two computers that i would like to file sharing on as well as tci/ip set up on the network

the two computers are LEFT, which is running XP with all service packs. Computer RIGHT is running Ubuntu 5.10 [Breezy]. I have samba installed on it....

but from there

i have no idea where i should start.

Most tutorials are for sharing internet connections, all i wanna do is share files and the tci/ip for synergy []

where should i start and what steps should i use? if you have a well written tutorial or guide i will be glad to use it
