111/tcp open rpcbind

Folks,

Just made a nmap scan of the localnet and found out this port was open:

111/tcp open rpcbind

Systems are SuSE 10.0. What is rpcbind used for ?

rpcbind is used for "Remote Procedure Call", like for NFS and similar services. Are you running an NFS server? If not, it should be at least firewalled off.
